Moonbasa, Chinese-based e-commerce platform, is expanding to its U.S. consumers. The website just partnered its U.S. branch with the U.S. Department of Commerce in order to bring more exposure and apparel exports to China.

The partnership between Moonbasa USA and the U.S. Department of Commerce was made through the Office of Textiles and Apparel. The overall idea of the partnership is to expose U.S. brands more. The collaborative effort was created in order to fill a void in the current consumer market for American clothing labels for China residents. “Right now the Department of Commerce doesn’t have anything in place to support e-commerce platforms to deliver U.S. brands to China,” Barbara Graff, managing director of Moonbasa USA, told Apparel News. The new partnership will allow that segment of the market to change in order to get more brands to China.

The partnership will also allow Moonbasa to grow its collection of U.S. apparel brands. Currently, the website has approximately 20 U.S. brands. Most of those clothing lines are from Los Angeles, where Moonbasa USA is currently headquartered. With the new collaboration, the website is expected to grow its list with more labels all over the U.S. Although Los Angeles is upcoming in fashion, the website is hoping to expand with various cities throughout the country.
