From winter semester 2015/16 onward, the International School of Management (ISM) will offer a new international master's program - Luxury, Fashion & Sales Management - at its campuses in Cologne and Hamburg.

With the new program, ISM wants to prepare its students systematically for a career in the luxury and consumer goods industries and impart expert knowledge about the sector, to "react to changing market structures and purchase desicisions".

"The industry is currently looking for specialists who are familiar with the complex value chains of luxury and consumer goods companies," confirmed program manager Prof. Dr. Christiane Beyerhaus.

Thus, the new degree program combines business management studies with insider knowledge and practical experiences to prepare the students for a career in marketing, retail, purchasing or sales. In addition to various sales and trading concepts and classic retail structures, e-commerce is on the agenda as well.

"Dynamism and international scope characterize the luxury and consumer goods industries. Brands are not merely names but represent values, emotions and zeitgeist. E-commerce and international competition pose new challenges for the retail market," according to the program description.

The whole degree program covers four semesters, of which the first two are held at ISM Hamburg or Cologne, the third one abroad at one of ISM's 170 partner universities, and the fourth is dedicated to the master's thesis. Apart from project work, students also have to complete a twelve-week internship.
