Resale fashion marketplace Poshmark has partnered with Loop to offer US consumers the possibility to resell goods or items meant for return.
The new partnership, which sees Poshmark working with the commerce platform for Shopify brands, ensures that the US shoppers in Loop's merchant network can now resell items on Poshmark, turning missed return windows into a sustainable, and potentially financially viable solution.
The first resale partnership of its kind for Loop’s merchants, the initiative aims to promote circular commerce while opening new revenue streams for brands. The new partnership comes as more retailers across the nation face rising costs and environmental concerns from returns, leading many to tighten their policies.
Between November 1 and December 24, online spending grew 6.7 percent according to Mastercard SpendingPulse, while returns from December 26 to 30 rose 8 percent year-over-year according to Loop, totaling over 67.6 million dollars worth of returns for Loop brands. During this period, Poshmark listings with "missed return" in the description increased nearly 50 percent. A significant increase, it highlights challenges for both retailers and consumers while opening doors for innovative solutions to reduce waste and frustration.
"At Poshmark, we believe shopping and selling should be simple, social, and sustainable," said Steven Tristan Young, chief marketing officer at Poshmark, in a statement. "After observing an increase in Poshmark listings mentioning missing the return window, we saw an opportunity to create a sustainable solution. Partnering with a market-leader like Loop allows us to offer resale as an alternative, creating a more convenient experience for both buyers and sellers, putting money back in their wallets, and keeping more items in circulation."
The new partnership also highlights Poshmark's commitment to simplifying resale with innovative tools and comes as the resale platform added sought-after inventory from Loop merchants like Rothy's, building on the 8 billion dollars earned by its sellers to date. "In partnership with Loop and Poshmark, we are redefining sustainable shopping," said Dayna Quanbeck, president at Rothy's, in a statement.
"Washable and remarkably durable, Rothy's products are designed to stay in the loop as long as possible. Now with our Poshmark x Loop integration, we're taking a step toward a truly circular fashion economy. By transforming non-returnable items into resale opportunities with just one click, we're empowering our customers to reduce waste and extend the life of their Rothy's. We're proud to be at the forefront of offering practical, sustainable solutions for today's shoppers."
Loop’s US merchants can activate this feature with a single click in their Loop account. Once enabled, consumers initiating a return will see a “Resell on Poshmark” option for non-returnable items, instantly generating a pre-filled Poshmark listing, transforming a dead-end into an easy resale solution. "Loop's collaboration with Poshmark exemplifies the future of returns, where ease of use meets sustainability," said Hannah Bravo, CEO of Loop, in a statement. "Together, we're helping brands and consumers embrace resale as a simple, single-click experience, supporting a thriving circular economy while driving meaningful engagement and value for all."
