Retailer Primark recently confirmed that the credit and debit cards used at their stores may have been compromised. The company found payment card skimmers that were illegally placed on various payment machines that can steal credit card information.

These skimmers are used by criminals in order to collect payment data. The devices are placed on payment card readers and are then used to steal the information of both credit and debit cards. Primark found that locations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Connecticut location have been affected. The specific stores include the King of Prussia Mall, Freehold Raceway Mall, Danbury Fair Mall, and Willow Grove Mall. It was confirmed that some of the card information of customers have been affected, but not all cards inclusively.

At the moment, Primark is holding an investigation and working very close with local and federal officials to resolve the issue. The devices were immediately removed on the same day that the discovery was made. Primark also had contacted law enforcement right after finding the skimmers. So far, the retailer has commented on the issue at hand regarding its customers. “The security of our customers remains a priority for Primark, and the company sincerely regrets that this incident occurred,” the company said in a statement. While continuing the investigation, it remains to be seen if other locations have also been affected by this security breach.
