Jewelry brand Soko just created a new business strategy in order help increase better communications with its international artisans. The label now has technology using mobile devices to help support development with its Kenya-based artisans, according to WWD.

The company's mobile technology now can help Soko to communicate more effectively with these artisans through smartphones. The app is called Virtual Resource Planning (VRP) and operates by allowing a supply chain to be streamlined through the platform. The app will help Soko to communicate thoroughly about its purchase orders, inventory, delivery of goods, and more. As reported by WWD, the company currently has over 2,000 Kenyan artisans employed. It seems the app will be one way the brand can help improve its overall productivity with its global artisans.

Founded in 2012, the San Francisco-based label has been known for its ethical fast-fashion. The company's supply chain currently manages a network over 1,800 independent artisans. Soko works through a "virtual factory," as the company's LinkedIn page describes it. This new format will allow the business to run smoothly and efficiently in the mainstream market.
