US apparel sales continue upward trend into August

A new report from the U.S. Census Bureau indicates that U.S. retail and food services sales in August 2025 reached an estimated 732 billion dollars, marking an increase of 0.6 percent from the revised July figure. This growth follows a similar 0.6 percent rise in July, which was revised upward from an initial estimate of 0.5 percent. On a year-over-year basis, August sales were up 5.0 percent compared to August 2024.
