Woolrich closes Bologna office; 78 redundancies announced
Woolrich is closing its Bologna office in Northern Italy, resulting in 78 redundancies. According to the local newspaper 'Il Resto del Carlino', the final day of operations for the historic company's Bologna headquarters was yesterday August 31. The company was acquired last December by the Turin-based group BasicNet, which has decided to relocate the brand's activities to the Piedmontese capital.
At the local headquarters of Confindustria yesterday morning, 64 employees from the Bologna office were called to sign the trade union conciliation agreement. The agreement finalises the termination of their employment. The average age of the employees is between 40 and 50.
The agreement provides for a severance incentive tied to the duration of employment, with gross amounts ranging from approximately 30,000 to 100,000 euros.
In addition to these 64 employees, 14 colleagues from Bologna had already signed the conciliation agreement in July. This brings the total number of redundancies at the Bologna office to 78. Meanwhile, in Milan, 13 departing employees have settled their employment through the Certification Commission. According to the Bologna edition of Corriere della Sera, a further 25 employees from Bologna and Milan will retain their positions, having accepted a transfer to Turin.
“The conclusion of this procedure marks the end of a particularly complex dispute. It involved employees with significant professionalism, skills, and years of experience. We are satisfied that the union negotiations, within the framework of the social plan agreed upon by both parties, have secured exit conditions and financial protections for those affected,” stated Fisascat Cisl, Filcams Cgil, and Uiltucs.
