The fashion-forward fitness and activewear tradeshow known as Active Collective just unveiled plans that it will move to New York next year. Starting January 2017, the trade event will be expanding its show along with Swim Collective, another trade event associated with Active Collective.

The show will first debut on January 26 and 27 in New York, according to Apparel News. Located at the Metropolitan Pavilion, this will be the show’s first East Coast trade event. New York was chosen due to its proximity in location to other countries. “Currently, it’s hard for retailers to fly from [Europe] to California for a two-day show,” said executive show director Shannon Leggett. The move will probably result in different brands for the East Coast show. When Active Collective pops up on the West Coast, various fitness and athleisure brands participate including local designers. For upcoming Active Collective events this year, the event features brands such as Alo Yoga, Koral, Maaji, Teeki, Prana, and more.

So far, Active Collective has shown on the West Coast as a professional trade event where fitness and fashion come together. The show allows for manufacturers and their retailers to meet. Swim Collective serves as a sister tradeshow for Active, as it is co-located and produced in associated with the fitness fair. For the trade events, typically there are 500 activewear collections that are presented to department, specialty, online stores and more.
