Ksenia Schnaider wins PREMIUM Young Designers Award in the Womenswear category

Lady Gaga knows her stuff. When Mother Monster loves an item of clothing so much that she wears it on the cover of her album, the label that created it then shares the limelight of the international stage. The Ukrainian, who runs the label together with her husband, is now among the winners of the Premium Young Designers Awards. Ksenia Schnaider and her label have already bravely survived the baptism of fire.

The Ksenia Schnaider label was born in Kiev and proves once again that Ukraine has style. Her collections tread the line between Scandinavian minimalism and brutalist-humorous streetwear influences á la Public School or Vetements. Cut-off boyfriend or mum jeans worn over skinny jeans, quilted sweatshirts in glaring orange. These are interspersed with delicate dresses with chiffon frills – Ksenia Schnaider performs a few unforeseen pirouettes within her collection, though these work astonishingly effectively in line with the overall portfolio.

Ksenia Schnaider’s style is catching on internationally. Her clothes are stocked by Yawn in Brussels, Anthom in New York, Igly&Niti in Tel Aviv, N-Duo in Tbilisi and Tsvetnoy in Moscow, to name but a few. The international press has already discovered Ksenia Schnaider: WWD, Style.com, Vogue US, Vogue Russia and Vogue China have reported on the brand. Alongside her main range there is also a tailoring atelier, Custom Dress, in which the clothes are adjusted to fit the individual wearer’s figure.
