080 Barcelona Fashion strengthens global appeal with Louis Gabriel Nouchi
Madrid – Still immersed in the whirlwind of shows and presentations that have taken place since early September, the focus now shifts to the upcoming edition of the 080 Barcelona Fashion catwalk. This is the next major event for the Spanish fashion industry. Filled with many surprises and new features, it will once again place Barcelona in the industry's spotlight from October 20 to 23.
In preparation for this significant event, the official presentation of this new 38th edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion took place this week at the Hotel Me in Barcelona. A select group of representatives from the participating fashion firms and houses attended the event. Moisés Rodríguez, director of the Consorci de Comerç, Artesania i Moda (CCAM) of the Generalitat de Catalunya; Nadia Quevedo, commissioner for Economic Promotion, Commerce, Catering and Fashion Plan of the Barcelona City Council; and Marta Coca, director of the fashion department at CCAM and director of 080 Barcelona Fashion, reviewed its key points and main new features.
In general terms, the meeting confirmed that the official schedule for the 38th edition of 080 will feature 25 participants and 26 catwalk shows. For the second consecutive time, the event will be held at the Marina Vela-Port Vell in Barcelona, alongside a new and packed programme of parallel activations. Among these initiatives, this edition particularly highlights the launch of “PLEC”. This new initiative, launched by the Barcelona City Council, will aim to bring the different dimensions of fashion closer to the city and a wider, more diverse audience, following the dynamics of a cultural festival.
“080 Barcelona Fashion is experiencing one of its most attractive and international moments,” highlighted Moisés Rodríguez, director of the Consorci de Comerç, Artesania i Moda of the Generalitat de Catalunya. “It is the showcase that allows us to present a fashion that combines emerging talent, established brands and firms with international reach.” He added that the initiative “also reinforces the government's commitment to circularity, creativity and craftsmanship,” noting that it is “the best expression of a dynamic, innovative sector with strong local roots.”
“Barcelona has a strong creative tradition, its own scene, and both emerging and established talent that needs to be promoted and positioned,” emphasised Nàdia Quevedo, commissioner for Economic Promotion, Commerce, Catering and Fashion Plan of the Barcelona City Council. In line with this goal, she added, “with PLEC, from the Barcelona City Council, what we want to do is precisely that: to highlight and connect all the disciplines we have in our city, the creative industries, and to roll it out across Barcelona. We want the front row of fashion to be for the public as well.”
Line-up with 25 firms and 26 catwalk shows
Focusing on the catwalk for this upcoming edition of 080, the official show schedule will feature a total of 25 fashion firms and designers. This edition's line-up will include 404 Studio, the label by Valencia-native Anaïs Vauxcelles; Acceptance Letter by South Korean designer Jeakyon Sim, who is based in Barcelona; Aleixandri Studio by Tarragona-born designer Marc Aleixandri; Antonio Acuario, the brand of Chilean designer Antonio Contreras, based in Barcelona; Benavente, the fashion house of Valencian designer Paco Benavente; Bibencia, the firm by designers Roberto Montes and Néstor Redó; Boltad by Badajoz-born creative Alberto Martín Pozo; Compte Spain by Valencian designer Santi Mozas; Crypta by Argentinian designer Florencia López Cornejo, based in Barcelona; and Custo Barcelona, the iconic house of brothers Custo and David Dalmau.
Completing the list of this edition's protagonists are La Rioja-born, Porto-based designer David Catalán, who returns to 080 after his debut in the March 2026 edition; Dominnico, the brand by Domingo Rodríguez Lázaro; Escorpion, a historic knitwear house from Igualada dating back to 1929; Gau, the firm of Uruguayan designer Sergio Gau, based in Valencia; Guilermina Baeza, which will present a new collection by Belen Larruy, daughter of the brand's founder and current creative director; Inma Linares, the Seville-based house of the eponymous fashion designer, making her debut on the Barcelona circuit; L’Amar, the brand of Zaragoza-born designer Nacho Lamar; and the Parisian house LGN Louis Gabriel Nouchi, which will debut at 080 this October after showing at Paris Fashion Week last June.
Rounding out the line-up are Nathalie Chandler, a Belgian designer based in Barcelona who is returning to 080; O’Barret, the brand of Alicante-born, Milan-based designer Alicia Jiménez Barreto; the renowned Outsiders Divison, the firm of Galician designer David Méndez Alonso; Pat Equilux by Alicante designer Patricia Fernández Iñesta; the Bilbao-based firm SKFK, with Maia Curutchet as creative director; Sohuman by Valencian fashion designer Javier Aparici, who is also debuting at 080 this October after participating in events like London Fashion Week; and Barcelona-based Surkana, under the creative direction of Piedad Lara since 2017. This makes a total of 25 firms and designers. The 26th show will be the fifth edition of 080 Reborn, which will open the presentation schedule. This circular fashion project aims to highlight new ways of consuming fashion, championing the value of second-hand fashion and promoting the reuse of textile waste. It will once again be under the creative direction of the Fermín&Gilles studio, who are responsible for the “Nòmade” collection that will kick off this October's 080 show calendar.
Made exclusively from garments recovered from second-hand shops, social entities, vintage markets and textile reuse circuits, “the ‘Nòmade’ collection, the star of the fifth edition of 080 Reborn, is based on the idea that garments also migrate,” the 080 management explained about the collection. They “change bodies, places and contexts over time, accumulating new experiences, uses and meanings.” They poetically added, “The proposal conceives clothing as a living, moving archive, capable of constantly transforming through the people who wear it and the stories it incorporates at each new stage.” This describes the series of pieces that will feature in this new 080 Reborn activation. The project “has established itself as one of the most unique initiatives of the catwalk, demonstrating the potential of upcycling and circular fashion as tools for innovation and creative expression.”
Open Area with conferences, workshops, circular fashion and an ode to footwear
Delving into the main new features of this upcoming edition in more detail, beyond the catwalk, the next 080 will traditionally feature its “Open Area”. This is a space surrounding the catwalk area, open to the general public with free access, where this edition's shows will be broadcast live.
In parallel with these screenings, a series of different initiatives and activities will take place in the Open Area. A notable feature among them is the ode to artisanal footwear, which will be part of the second edition of the “080 Beyond Crafts” initiative. This was launched in partnership with the Artesanía de Cataluña association. For this edition, Biel Capllonch served as art director, and the creative studio Fermín&Gilles was responsible for curating the brands selected for the exhibition space. This group will include artisanal footwear brands Aftersoniccc, Aldanondoyfdez, Ball Pagès, Castañer, Evarist Bertran, La Manual Alpargatera, Mates, Norman Vilalta and Roi Vilaró.
Also within the Open Area, all visitors will have the opportunity to explore the 080 Reborn installation. This will offer a journey through the various circular collections that have been presented annually at each October edition of 080 since 2022 as part of the 080 Reborn initiative. The project is promoted by 080 Barcelona Fashion, the collaborative innovation space Girbau LAB, and the Waste Agency of Catalonia, under the creative direction of Fermín&Gilles. The installation will provide a retrospective look, continuing the theme of the retrospective show held on May 16 at the Tarragona Museum of Modern Art.
For its third collaboration with the Barcelona event, the Spain Gallery platform by tastemaker Paula Viana will be present again at this new edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion. It first appeared at 080 in October 2025 and returned in March 2026. The platform renews its commitment to giving visibility to Spanish, mainly emerging, designer fashion. A curated selection of pieces from twenty firms, such as BICO, Victoria Hidalgo, Jane Bardot, Ruinas, Maria Ruiz, House of Hedra, Rafaela Knitwear, Erax, Callnak, Auvrey and Toda Frágil, will be exhibited and sold. This promotional activity will be complemented by a programme of talks and workshops. It will begin on October 20 with the “Create your own brand and customise your scarf” workshop with ERAX. On October 21, there will be a talk on “Fashion on social media” with Aritz Larrabe and an “Experimental fabrics workshop” with Raquel Buj. On October 22, a conference on “Creating content for brands on social media” with Alfredo Perezzi and a workshop on “Plastic art applied to fashion” with Tomás Jaramillo will take place. Finally, on October 23, there will be a talk on “AI campaigns” with Adrián Marcos, director of Dazzle, and a “Glass jewellery workshop” with Toda Frágil.
First edition of “PLEC”
Completing the parallel activities for this edition of 080, but outside the Open Area, is the launch of “PLEC”. This new initiative, promoted by the Barcelona City Council, aims to bring the reality of fashion closer to the city and its local population. It also explores its creative and cultural dimension beyond the shows and catwalks. To achieve these goals, the platform will feature two parallel “city” actions during the 38th edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion: “PLEC Barcelona Cultura de la Moda vol.1” and “PLEC la 080 en pantalla”.
Starting with the latter, “PLEC la 080 en pantalla” aims to bring fashion, specifically the fashion presented during this edition of 080, closer to the city. It seeks to make its streets and urban scene resonate with the creations of the participating firms and designers. As part of this, a trailer with a large screen will showcase this edition's proposals, setting up in different locations across Barcelona. These locations will also allow people to follow the 080 shows live. They can be viewed at Plaça de Can Fabra (October 20 from 4pm to 9:30pm, with a stage and talk); Plaça de les Glòries (October 21 from 12pm to 9:30pm, streaming only); Plaça del Mar (October 22 from 12pm to 9:30pm, streaming only); and Plaça Comercial del Born (October 23 from 12pm to 9:30pm, with a stage and talk).
Meanwhile, the “PLEC Barcelona Cultura de la Moda vol.1” initiative is a true “fashion festival”. Its programme will bring together meetings, conferences, performances and even musical acts on October 21 and 22 at the Tinglados del Port Vell in Barcelona, from 6pm until midnight. This series of activations, curated by creative consultant Francesca Tur, will kick off with the opening of the “Activació D’Arxiu 3.137” installation. Curated by Luis Venegas, it will feature pieces from his own editorial archive that explore the relationship between Barcelona and fashion. This exhibition will serve as a backdrop for the platform's various initiatives. On October 21, talks will include “Fashion magazines before scrolling” with Yolanda Muelas and Edu García Llamas, director and founder of VEIN Magazine and Fucking Young; “Barcelona as a stage” with Daniel Riera and Luis Venegas himself; and a performance with Mabel Olea and Freqüència Comtal and DJ Bengala. The activities will continue on October 22 with a live recording of the Radio Noia podcast with Mar Vallverdú and Vestir Santas with Rita Rakosnik; a performance by Nicasio Torres and Muerte a la norma; and live music from SVSTO and DJ Miqui Puig.
Professional meeting organised by Texfor, with AI at its core
As is also tradition, the annual meeting of the textile employers' association Texfor will be held as part of this upcoming October edition of 080. The “TexMeeting By Texfor 2026” will take place on October 21, from 10am to 1pm in the Mirador building. This year's event will feature various sessions and conferences, all focused on the opportunities that the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) presents for the textile and fashion sector as a whole.
“The event will provide an understanding of how agentic AI can transform processes, speed up decision-making, improve coordination between areas and promote more efficient, connected and adaptable ways of working,” the 080 management stated. It will also “address the necessary conditions for incorporating it judiciously,” which include “data quality and availability, technological integration, security, human supervision, responsibility and the evolution of professional profiles.”
