E-commerce intimates site Adore Me has announced they are launching their first activewear collection. The site is known for being inclusive of women of all sizes. The debut activewear collection will be available beginning October 1.
“We will be following in the brand’s guide principle of inclusivity,” said Adore Me spokeswoman Camille Kress to WWD. “Everything will be sold in a set, meaning top and bottom and retail from 49.95 to 59.95 dollars.” Adore Me's activewear line will range in size from XS to 4XL.
Most mainstream activewear brands don't offer plus sizes, so Adore Me is filling a big hole in the market. Adore Me is one of the few brands out there who offers activewear to fit the plus size customer.
The new activewear is meant to be complementary to the lingerie line.
Items will be available a la carte or through the site's VIP program.
The issue of plus size clothing is becoming a hot topic in the fashion industry, all thanks to fashion personality Tim Gunn who called out designers at New York Fashion Week for not catering to the plus-size market. According to him, The fashion industry is not making it work for plus-size women.
Few high-end designers cater to plus size women, although there are those out there like Christian Siriano and Prabal Gurung who believe that plus size women do want luxury dresses and support the idea that women of all sizes should have quality clothing.
At least in the activewear market, Adore Me has women covered.
