American Apparel collaborates with HRC Foundation

American Apparel, Los Angeles-based clothing company, announced its collaboration with the Human Rights Campaign Foundation on June 1.

The simplistic apparel brand teamed with the foundation in order to create a limited edition collaboration capsule. The collection featured a tank top and t-shirt for men and women that have a graphic design of an equal sign. The iconic tee is meant to support equality through public education, advocacy, partnerships, and more. The new collaboration is using the hashtag #EqualityForward as a title. The available tee and tank will be available for a limited time at American Apparel stores.

American Apparel has been known for its controversial campaigns in the past supporting immigration rights, gay and lesbian rights, and more. In the past, American Apparel has had shirts that advocate various rights and have controversial texts. The leading basics brand is known for manufacturing in downtown Los Angeles. The company has approximately 1,902 employees. American Apparel has been established since 1998 and was founded by Dov Charney.

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation is known for advocating rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people. The organization works by helping to increase understanding of LGBT lives through building support among the community. The HRC Foundation is a non-profit and has been established since 1980. The organization is based in Washington D.C.
