American Apparel partners with HRC for LGBTQ

Los Angeles - American Apparel recently teamed up with the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and Ally Coalition in order to promote LGBTQ awareness. In teaming with both organizations, the Los Angeles-based brand released a collection that is aiming to end discrimination in the LGBTQ community and support the Equality Act.

The collection will have four different styles of t-shirts. Additionally, the collection includes a hat and a totebag with the slogans as well. Prices range from 24 to 28 dollars varying on the item. The merchandise is available at select American Apparel stores and their online shop. Also, the clothing will be available through HRC’s e-shop. Any merchandise bought from the website will help support the Equality Act, as 100 percent of the sales from the site will be donated. Also, American Apparel will put 30 percent of sales towards supporting the act. The Equality Act’s purpose is to provide basic protections against discrimination of sexual orientation or gender identity in employment, housing, education, federal funding, and more. Through these proceeds, the collection can serve a purpose of actually helping the LGBTQ community in a positive way.

The collection consists of limited editions of a t-shirt and a tank top with slogans that read “Make America Gay Again” and “Make America LGBTQ Again.” The slogan was inspired originally by Donald Trump’s hat which read, “Make America Great Again.” The text for the t-shirts is aimed to support justice and equality for all individuals in America. The campaign also includes video content and social media marketing. With the launch of the campaign, the Los Angeles-based retailer and organizations both hope to raise awareness to the LGBTQ community and also help end discrimination.
