The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA), representing more than 1,000 brands, retailers, and manufacturers, has announced its honorees for the 2021 American Image Awards, which will be held virtually on June 21.

This year’s honorees include HanesBrands, Inc. as the Company of the Year; Gabriela Hearst as the Designer of the Year; Walmart for Retail Innovator of the Year; Black in Fashion Council for the Fashion Maverick Award; and The Sustainable Apparel Coalition for Eco-Steward of the Year.

The American Image Awards began in 1977 to honor those who have exemplified leadership, excellence, and outstanding achievement in all sectors of the apparel and footwear industry, including design, manufacturing, and retail.

New to the awards this year is the Eco-Steward of the Year award to honor the industry’s movement to accelerate fashion’s contribution to protecting the planet’s future and its people.

Furthermore, the evening’s proceeds will benefit AAFA’s partner and charity beneficiary, the Council of Fashion Designers of America Foundation (CFDA), to continue mentorship programs and business grants.
