Last night on April 23, Arnette Eyewear held a launch event fusing art and culture with its brand. At 1540 Cahuenga Blvd., the chic eyewear company launched its new collaboration with Mike Relm, designer and DJ, in way that emphasizes the brand’s commitment to the scenery and heritage of Los Angeles.

Relm helped to create the new look of the brand, adding an element of L.A.’s lax attitude into the mix. “I really wanted something that was a throwback the big-framed sunglasses, but not something that only certain people can wear,” said Relm. In his designs for the optical shades and sunglasses, Relm used matte and glossy finishes as well as added specs of vibrant color into the mix using green, aqua and burgundy.

The event itself was a new innovation in growing the company and brand. “I think events in L.A. are super important, because being in [the city]... events help so much because it brings people together,” said Relm. The open space of the event was inside of a two-story studio space with modern art, glass fixtures, and minimalist designs scattered throughout. The idea of the event is to bring a sense of experience to the brand, instead of just advertising the product. “There’s a wall full of glasses so [the collection] is there if you want to see it, but you don’t necessarily have to pay attention to it either,” said Relm.

Arnette Eyewear was founded in 1992 by Greg Arnette in Orange County, California. The brand is known for its youthful, popular styles in optical frames and sunglasses. Depending on each collection, glasses vary by manufacturing, hinges, range, and frame style.
