Los Angeles - In the craziness that is known as Los Angeles Fashion Week, countless locals gathered at the Taglyan Complex for runways shows of established and emerging designers alike. In the heart of Hollywood, Art Hearts Fashion Week showcased various artists highlighting local talent in Los Angeles’ fashion industry.

Sue Wong kicks off LA Fashion Week

The week highlighted over 30 designers throughout the week. On Monday, Sue Wong kicked off the fashion week with an incredible showcase of daring designs, intricate headpieces, and a bit of theatrical presence. The show began with Wong thanking the audience and the showcase. Her show began and showed off the 79 dynamic looks from her newest collection. Her designs were bold in design ranging from over-the-top headpieces to timeless embellishments and more. Themes that were present within the collection included mascarade with a range of styles that alternated from evening wear to silk, chiffon gowns. The overall runway show provided the audience with an ethereal feel of elegance and simplicity through her designs. The iconic headwear displayed is credited to Maritza Regalado of Atzi designs, who helped Wong in creating her vision. The end of the show was surprising as Michael Peer, pop opera star, appeared to sing an iconic song Phantom of the Opera. The artist accurately reflected the feel of the runway designs, which overall encompassed a mysterious, dream-like theme.

Nicole Miller also had a impressive runway show for the fashion week. She showed off her powerful spring collection including designs that were a bit bold and dark along with muted, neutral tones. The collection was a bit more down-to-earth in comparison to Wong’s with an earthy feel including various flower designs and darker tones. The designs ranged from matching separates to sophisticated floor-length gowns. Miller stayed true to form with these designs, as her brand is known for classic, elegant form-fitting styles. The new take was a bit daring due to the fact Miller is also known for her bridal gowns that are a bit lighter and airy in design.

Stephanie Costello reflects Hollywood style with Stello collection

Stephanie Costello also showed off a stunning collection this week. In fitting with Hollywood’s grungier side, the label Stello launched as Michael Costello’s rebranded ready-to-wear line. Taken over by Costello’s cousin Stephanie, the label showcased designs that were perfectly aligned with Los Angeles’ glam fashion side. The collection, entitled “Hotel California” included embellished cocktail dresses, lace high-waisted shorts, and eclectic floor-length gowns. The show started off with an electric guitar performance of “The Star Spangled Banner” by Malina Moye. After its rock’n’roll start the designs showcased the darker side of Hollywood’s elite. One of the standout pieces included red high-waisted shorts, a glam bustier, knee-high boots, and a matching red cap. The piece showed off an interesting take on Los Angeles’ fashion by incorporating more wearable, glamorized outfits.

Overall, the week showcased some awe-inspiring designers as well as emerging, new artists. Store buyers attend the bi-annual market in order to see new trends and prospective brands for their companies. This week’s showcase was Art Hearts Fashion second year as a production organization for Los Angeles events. The production company also hosts fashion events in other various cities that showcase art, design, fashion, retail, and media talent. Designers that have participated in the event in the past include Hallie Sara, Consort 62, Mister Triple X, Walter Mendez, Michael Costello and more.
