Avion Feminin relaunches as a resort collection

Los Angeles designer Katherine Tsina Bird comes back to fashion with a relaunch collection for resort.

The designer took a hiatus briefly from the fashion world. With the relaunch of Avion Feminin, the resort collection will re-immerse the Los Angeles-based designer into ready-to-wear fashion. Her relaunch will offer her clients her iconic made-to-measure pieces and will also open up her collection to wholesale buyers. According to WWD, this will be Bird’s first time opening her collection for wholesale buyers. She will also sell the collection through her e-commerce site.

Her resort collection features slim, tailored dresses as well as casual separates and evening gowns to make for a feminine collection. With prints, over-sized proportions, and tasteful colors, the collection models itself after the modern, contemporary woman. Her celebrity clientele includes Katie Holmes, Michelle Williams, Ellen Page, and Heidi Klum. In Los Angeles, the designer is known for her high-end evening-inspired pieces. The collection was drawn from the designer’s experience as a dancer. “I’m always thinking about movement and how something is going to work on a body,” Bird told WWD. Pieces from the resort collection starts from 600 dollars and ranges up to about 3,000 dollars. The prices vary on whether the piece is a top, bottom, dress, or otherwise. Scheduled for retailers this fall, the collection will also be available online.

The brand was founded on a focus for made-to-measure products. The brand works with private clients in order to create dresses for day and evening looks, including wedding gowns, cocktail dresses, lingerie, and more. The collection has been featured in various publications such as Vogue and The New York Times. The designer graduated from Parsons School of Design in 2004. As no stranger to fashion, her past experience includes working professionally as a fitting model in New York. Although the designer is based in Los Angeles, her collection Avion Feminin is based in New York.
