Banana Republic introduced its first Equality Collection capsule, as a nod to gender equality. The capsule, which is available for purchase today, honors International Women's Day on March 8 and celebrates the 100-year anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment, which gave women the right to vote in the United States.

The brand was co-founded by a woman, and shared in a statement that "equality has been a core value from the beginning." Banana Republic's parent company, Gap Inc. was included in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index this year, recognizing its commitment to transparency in gender reporting and advancing women's equality.

"Equality has always been at the core of our brand DNA," said CMO Mary Alderete in a statement. "We are proud to lead a culture of equal advancement and empowerment of women, especially during this notable moment in women's history."

The limited-edition Equality Collection includes T-shirts and accessories, ranging in price from 18 to 35 dollars. A portion of the retail cost will support non-profit organization CARE to fight for the advancement of women and girls across the world. The capsule is available in Banana Republic stores and on its e-commerce site.

The collection's styles are designed to evoke messages of empowerment and authenticity, using the color white to pay homage to American suffragist women of the early 20th century, who used to color to represent f female solidarity, strength, tenacity and the fight for equality. Items display wording of "Femme Liberte" against a white background.

Last month, Banana Republic introduced an accessory called the "Dissent Collar" to pay tribute to notable female American, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg of the United States Supreme Court. Half of the product's purchase price supports the ACLU Women’s Rights Project.
