Founder and president of global public relations company Black Frame Brian Phillips—who was once the protégé of designer Hedi Slimane—is shutting down the brand he launched in 2004. The art and fashion PR firm boasts a variety of name brand including Rodarte, Nike, Converse, Opening Ceremony, and more. Many of these brands have been with the company for over a decade. The designed urged Phillips to open a public relations firm with promises to hire the agency at Dior Homme, where he was the creative director at the time.

According to Vogue Business, who first reported the news, Phillips is closing the doors on Black Frame in order to focus on creative direction and entertainment. Until now, he has been providing creative direction under a similar enterprise named Frame Work, where there has been a sizable amount of growth in business. He is also the creative director for Garage, a title owned by Vice Media.

Phillips will be officially shutting the New York-based brand down on Feb. 28, “giving a last hurrah for clients participating in New York Fashion Week." The founder hopes that his staff members will open their own firms, to further represent the company’s current clients. He will also be helping guide clients to new agencies and employees to new job opportunities, according to the report.
