Google and Walmart both announced that the two are partnering together for the greater good of online shopping. The two companies have agreed that Google will retail Walmart products available on Google Express, which is the company's online destination.

The partnership was just announced this Wednesday, August 23. Walmart stated on its website, "Today, we’re announcing an exciting partnership with [Google ]. Starting in late September, we’ll be working with Google to offer hundreds of thousands of items for voice shopping via Google Assistant – the largest number of items currently offered by a retailer through the platform."

Google and Amazon partner together for online shopping mall

The online shopping mall will allow for customers to customize their shopping opens as well as use an Easy Reorder feature. To use these features, customers will need to link their Walmart account to Google Express. Next year, Walmart will also leverage their 4,700 U.S. stores and fulfillment network in order to add store pick-up options when shopping, including even for groceries.

As the online marketplace continues to grow competitive, Google Express is advancing as well. Google is planning to offer free delivery for a certain minimum charge for products purchased on Google Express, according to NY Times. With Walmart joining, the online shopping mall will have over 50 retailers available for customers.

It seems this partnership may be a way for Google and Walmart to come together to combat Amazon's success. For online shopping, Amazon still reigns as retail's leader without any brick-and-mortars. As Walmart transitions into more of an online-friendly brand, it may end up being a game changer for the company.
