Cecilie Thorsmark appointed new CEO of Copenhagen Fashion Week

Cecilie Thorsmark has been chosen as the new CEO of Copenhagen Fashion Week, beginning November 1 of this year.

The 35-year-old’s appointment comes following her two-year tenure as Global Fashion Agenda’s Communication Director. Prior to the role, she served as the Head of Press and Communication at Danish Fashion Institute and Copenhagen Fashion Week.

Copenhagen Fashion Week, which is held twice a year in January and August, is the largest fashion week in the Nordic region. Thorsmack’s new role is part of an effort to expand and bring fresh life to the event.

“I’m delighted to return to Copenhagen Fashion Week and look forward to taking on the enormous responsibility of further developing, strengthening and future-proofing Copenhagen Fashion Week,” Cecilie said in a press release. “I believe it has even greater potential, which is why I plan to work, for example, to reinforce Copenhagen Fashion Week’s sustainability profile and to create an international platform with Scandinavian fashion as its driving force.”

Aside from her vast experience, Thorsmark’s extensive education will also be valuable to her new role. She holds an MSc in Marketing Communications Management from Copenhagen Business School.

Copenhagen Fashion Week attracts thousands of visitors during its two fairs, CIFF and Revolver, and a three-day showcase that highlights the top fashion brands in Scandinavia. The event features shows, events, exhibits that facilitates engagement with members of the industry from around the global as well as locally.
