Cone Denim partners with Unifi for stretch fabric in denim

Cone Denim and Unifi, Inc. just announced a new fabric for the line. Including an advanced stretch technology, Cone Denim includes a performance and recycled polyester fiber entitled S Gene with Repreve.

"It is very exciting to continue our celebration of 10 years of S GENE technology with the addition of S GENE with REPREVE," Kara Nicholas, vice president of product design and marketing for Cone Denim, said in a statement. "This newest addition to Cone's Sustain Blue collection of fabrics maintains the authentic look and feel of traditional denim while offering advanced stretch, recovery and durability in an eco-friendly fabric that is increasingly more important to consumers today."

The denim for the new line use as many as three post-consumer plastic bottles in one pair. The collection is designed with style and sustainability in mind, using recycled cotton, recycled polyester and other sustainable yarns. "This collaboration brings together two global leaders in the textile industry aimed at driving innovation in the denim market," Jay Hertwig, ice president of global brand sales for Unifi, said in a statement.

The dual-core stretch denim is now available through the brand's online website. As a denim company for over 125 years, Cone Denim has become known for its performance denims and technology. In partnering with textile solutions provider Unifi, the new collection unveils a solution for advanced, stretch denim for a better comfort and fit.
