London - Cos is set to launch its first design book ’Creating with Shapes’. Created together with Royal College of Art teach and long-standing Cos collaborator Usha Doshi, the design book offers unique insights into the design and pattern cutter’s 20-year career while sharing her design techniques and methods.

In order to mark the launch of the design book, Cos has developed a limited edition 11 piece womenswear collection which uses the book’s design techniques. Doshi first conceptualised the technique while watching her grandchildren play with simple geometric shaped fabric at home and developed her innovative solution. With her design book, she aims to share her knowledge with creatives around the globe.

“This exciting new technique is perfect for production without compromising creativity and the book will be a fantastic tool for both designers and garment makers,” said Usha Doshi on the concept. The limited edition collection has been designed using Doshi’s techniques and features a range of womenswear pieces in navy, oatmeal and optic white.

Key pieces in the collection include a classic wool overcoat with geometric back pleat detail, a modern shirt with sharp front fold and an asymmetric silk dress with structured draping. “We’re very excited to be supporting Usha with the publishing of her first book and to launch a limited edition collection that uses the methodology,” added Karin Gustafsson, Cos Creative Director on the collection launch.

“This is a technique that we have supported and used in our design process time and time again, so it’s great to be able to share.” The limited edition collection is set to launch alongside the book in selected Cos stores next week. Prices will range from 69 euros to 290 euros.
