Models showcased their best designs by various designers on Friday night during the fourth edition of Kigali Fashion Week (KFW) ahead of the November finale. The annual event took place at the Belgium Ambassador’s residence in Kigali. It followed successful auditions in Kigali and other parts of the country.
This year’s fashion week featured regional and international models. TECNO Kigali Fashion Week partnered with Rwanda Cultural Fashion Show to bring together contemporary and cultural designers. Models strutted in the catwalk showing everything from hot pants to unique dresses.
The event organized and sponsored by TECNO-A smart mobile brand established in HK, featured creative models and innovative fashion designers. Contemporary and cultural taste of fashion was clearly brought out.
“We have organized this event in order to entertain the Kigali people, this is an international event. We know that people like fashion even if many don’t take it seriously in Rwanda we want to popularize it,” said Emmanuel Nkurikiyeyesu, TECNO sales manager (TECNO RWANDA) said. The show was backed (hosted) by TECNO Rwanda, various embassies in Rwanda, including Netherlands, British and Belgium.
“I like fashion and perfection. My prayer is for Rwandans to wear our own clothes. But I have enjoyed, especially the catwalk,” said a woman who gave her name as Lillian. Cedric Mizero, a fashion designer of Amizero Brand in Kigali said the passion for fashion propels her to make designs for women and men.
“This was the best compared to the previous ones.” The next big thing is “Rwanda next top model” slated for 3-7 November 2015. This will be a cross country road show in all five provinces selecting and auditions for the next super model that will represent Rwanda on the international fashion platform.
John Bunyeshuli the CEO of the fashion week promised and assured the world that this November will be the greatest show ever in terms of promoting Rwandan models internationally and hosting the best regional fashion designers in the East Africa.
