Dior’s highly sought after saddle bag has made its return to retailers for the first time since it was unveiled almost two decades ago.

The item debuted while John Galliano was heading the fashion house as part of the Spring/Summer 2000 collection and served as a tribute to equestrian style. Available in camel leather with a blue/grey logo, the purse became a staple for celebrities like Paris Hilton and Sienna Miller.

The piece was seen on the runway in February when the French luxury brand’s Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri decided to feature it in her show. The Italian designer later decided to feature the item in her fall 2018 collection - offering the bag in both a mini and large size and a cross-body strap.

"I thought this collection would be an opportunity to revive its timeless beauty," Chiuri said in a press release. "I consider this icon of the house's recent history the perfect accessory to deal with this battle that is daily life."

The Saddle Bag can also be purchased in fifteen different styles - with one adorned with embroidery and another with ‘70s inspired detailing.

"The Saddle Bag is a bag that is worn in exactly the same way as a shirt or jacket, and it's so comfortable to wear with its long strap that you almost forget it's there," Chiuri added. "The Saddle Bag is also practical because it allows you to carry everything you need with you. It's for this reason that I wanted it larger and more robust, but also very colorful, embroidered or with beaded fringe, because, like a chameleon, it adapts to all situations."

The item is now available in the brand’s stores and through www.Dior.com.
