London - Rihanna has managed to dethrone fellow artist Kanye West to become Queen of the Shoes.

The artist's first shoe, The Fenty Puma Creeper - which sold out in three hours when it debuted last autumn - has been named the 2016 Shoe of the Year by Footwear News. “In my wildest dreams, I never would have imagined an honor like Shoe of the Year,” said Rihanna to FN. “It means so much to me to make a mark like this in the shoe and sneaker industry and to have so many people share my love for the Creeper.”

She is set to officially receive the award at the 30th annual Achievement Awards, taking place in New York on November 29. The Shoe of the Year is selected each year based on a number of factors, such as retail sales, social media effect, consumer feedback and overall buzz generated.

Rihanna is the third recipient to receive the award, following from Kanye West who took the award home in 2015, thanks to his hit Yeezy Boost 350 sneaker with Adidas and Stan Smith for his signature sneakers with Adidas in 2014. The Fenty Creeper is said to offer consumers a unique variation on Puma's classic styles, complete with a Creeper sole.
