Fred Segal launches e-commerce site this Wednesday

Fred Segal is known for its effortless chic clothing, it’s Los Angeles presence, and upscale style. Although popular through its bricks-and-mortar stores, up until this point the brand had no e-commerce site in motion. However, the retailer has decided to take the plunge into the digital world starting this Wednesday. The brand’s long-awaited e-commerce site will launch on August 26 at fredsegal.com.

The new website’s theme will feature a rotating theme that highlights content by contributors and fashion moguls in the industry. In the beginning, the launch will focus on promoting its denim due the brand’s history of highlighting denim in the 1960’s. Contributors for the denim spotlight include Jamie Sullivan, Sasha Spielberg, and Yale Breslin. The brand wants the website to contribute to the company’s overall image and invite an interactive aspect to the label. “The Fred Segal history is one of curating and presented emerging ideas, products and brands,” Paul Blum, chief executive officer of Fred Segal, told Footwear News. Blum has been with the company since last year and has helped build out the brand. “We will slowly add categories [to our e-commerce site] as our customer reacts to want we have presented,” said Blum.

Fred Segal launches e-site and focuses on social media presence

The e-commerce site will continue to grow with the company and also build on online platforms in the next few years. The brand will also focus on its social media presence including Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. Up until this point, the brand hasn’t focused on these popular social media platforms. “It’s pretty ironic that it’s a brand so well known and loved by so many people and it’s had no digital marketing or Web site,” Blum told WWD in an interview. The new site is set to give excellent content on its site instead of focusing completely on commerce. Although Fred Segal wants to evolve, the brand doesn’t plan on re-branding with the new digital developments. The idea and focus of Fred Segal will still be on featuring innovative and creative fashion. Ultimately, the purpose of the site to convey the brand’s message and lifestyle theme.

The newly launched site will feature a selection of menswear and womenswear from Fred Segal. As denim is the brand’s focus, the company will feature popular denim labels such as Fabric, 3X1, and more. The brand will also feature limited-edition products and will highlight the company’s collaborations as they come along. Fred Segal offers its customers eclectic, edgy clothing. The apparel for the brand ranges in price at an upscale price point.

Fred Segal evolves with digital age and introduces content-driven website

Headquartered in Santa Monica, the brand was established in 1960 by founder Fred Segal. In 2012, Sandow acquired the company and helped to build the brand to what it is today. Currently, the luxury brand is known for offering most of its products up until this point through its specialty retail stores. The brand has five locations located in Los Angeles, Santa Monica, LAX, Las Vegas, and Tokyo. The e-launch which takes place this Wednesday will be the brand’s first merge into the digital world.
