Denim anchors the range, drawn from both brands' archives and built around vintage wash techniques. Men's pieces including the denim jacket and relaxed straight jeans use Japanese denim, at 150 and 120 pounds respectively. Women's styles apply Gap's rigid cotton denim to existing fits such as the High Rise Stride and Low Rise 90s Loose, alongside a shaped denim jacket with an archive-inspired lining.

Beyond denim, the collection covers tailoring, Oxford shirting, outerwear, knitwear and accessories, with cashmere, wool and corduroy in the mix. A reworked sailor stripe runs as a motif, joined by mod-influenced matching sets and dual-brand graphics. Fleece hoodies and accessories carry a Gap arch logo reworked through A.P.C.'s treatment.

Mark Breitbard, president and chief executive of Gap brand, said the company was drawn to A.P.C. for "their distinctive Parisian perspective and commitment to timeless essentials", which it had combined with "Gap's heritage of modern American style in a way that feels authentic to both brands".

A.P.C. founder Jean Touitou framed the project around a single idea. "For me, there is a chic way to be casual and a casual way to be chic," he said. "The research of that balance is at the heart of this collaboration, which brings the concept of 'sheer casual' to life. Friendship and shared cultural affinities between America and France are also at the root of this project."

The campaign centres on a short film, The Long Way, directed by Karl Cannone, styled by Alastair McKimm and overseen by Gap's head of creative Calvin Leung. Shot in Montmartre and drawing on 1960s cinema, it stars American rapper ian and French DJ Paloma Le Friant, and premieres on Gap's own channels alongside the launch.

The UK assortment runs to 34 pieces, priced from 25 to 245 pounds, and will be sold on gap.co.uk and at Gap's Covent Garden store in London. The collection is also being distributed across Japan, Europe, Turkey, China, Mexico, Australia and the Middle East.
