Gilt debuts first city-specific sale in LA

This week, Gilt introduced a sale focused on Los Angeles-based designers. The site, known for its daily deals, is debuting its first-ever city-specific sale.

On Wednesday evening, the company celebrated the city-sale debut at Palihouse hotel in West Hollywood. The sale, also known as Gilt’s L.A. Takeover, will run three days starting Thursday, August 6. The weekend sale will feature products from men’s, women’s and home decor designers. The idea of the sale is to highlight local designers and cater to the Los Angeles market crowd, as the city is the e-tailer’s second largest market following New York. “There is really something happening in L.A. right now,” Mike Chi, senior vice president of women’s for Gilt, told WWD. With over 10 million members, the website works with brands to help market and encourage sales.

Brands that are included in the sale are For Love and Lemons, James Perse, Simon Miller, Apolis, Matteo, and more. These brands will feature their products at a discounted price for customers. The website kicked off the sale at 12 p.m. EST on August 6. The exclusive Los Angeles sale will end on Saturday.

Gilt was founded in 2007 as an e-commerce site for women’s clothing. The company added men’s clothing the following year and has since established itself as a prominent force in online shopping. Founders include Kevin P. Ryan, Dwight Merriman, Alexis, The company is headquartered in New York.
