Greg Lauren has joined forces with Italian luxury knitwear label Alanui for an eight-piece collection.
Lauren (nephew of Ralph) is known for crafting casual yet chic wear that is both practical and on trend. Now available exclusively on mrporter.com, the new unisex capsule will then expand to Barneys, Neiman Marcus and Maxfield next month. Prices range from 2865 dollars and 6490 dollars and features Baja hoodies, field jackets, and lounge pants.
Alanui founders, brother and sister Carlotta and Nicolò, decided to join forces with Lauren after meeting in Los Angeles earlier this year.
“The pieces already embodied a relaxed, but very luxe approach to a specific reference of Americana, so I was immediately able to deconstruct and bring a contradiction to the pieces, using my artisanal style of design and construction and use of repurposed vintage fabrics,” Lauren tells The Hollywood Reporter.
Carlotta adds that each of the pieces were made in Italy but infused with the spirit of L.A style.
“The pieces are all handcrafted in Italy, with an incredible L.A. vibe,” Carlotta Oddi tells THR exclusively. “Los Angeles has always been a point of reference for us when we design and I consider it a second home! I love to wander through the vintage stores in search of inspiration, and the Rose Bowl (Flea Market) is on my ‘not to miss’ list. Craftsmanship and quality are extremely important to us and we often mix many different knitwear techniques such as crochet, needle-punch and hand embroideries within each style.”
The latest release comes on the heels of Lauren’s partnership with KITH for the IVY League draft collection. The limited edition line features sweaters with ivy league school logos and wartime attire - meant to evoke the concept of students from prominent universities drafted into war.
