For its prime West Coast event, Harlem’s Fashion Row involved talented fashion designers, couture collections, and A-list celebrities.

Earlier this month, Harlem’s Fashion Row (HFR) presented its first ever West Coast event entitled “Style Beat” in Los Angeles. During the chaos of awards season, the event took place on February 6th in Beverly Hills. Harlem’s Fashion Row aims to increase fashion creativity by putting on events that educate and advance opportunities for emerging ethnic designers. HFR showcased diverse designers including Kevan Hall, Waraire Boswell, Joseph Bethune, and Kimberly Goldson.

Kevan Hall, an L.A.-based designer, is known best for his creative work at Halston as well as his red carpet designs. He was the creative director of Halson from 1998 to 2000, reviving the renown brand to its natural vision. His evening wear has been worn by modish celebrities including Charlize Theron, Salma Hayek, Celine Dion, Sharon Stone, and many others.

Also a SoCal local, Waraire Boswell started his designing career in the late 1990’s. After just a few short years, Boswell was awarded Mercedes Benz Classic Designer of the Year. Displaying his work alongside prestigious designers such as Marc Jacobs and Diane von Furstenberg has made Boswell a strong contender in the fashion industry.

On the other side of the country in New York City, we have designers Joseph Bethune and Kimberly Goldson. Menswear designer Joseph Bethune is most widely known for Bethune Brothers clothing, displaying a unique point of view in his creative clothing lines. Kimberly Goldson, known as a contemporary designer and finalist on “Project Runway,” worked her way from competing to successfully owning her own cutting-edge fashion line.

HFR is an influential entertainment community that hopes to encourage engagement with audiences for multicultural designers. In showcasing rising talent of color, HFR successfully made a buzz in Los Angeles for its first ever West Coast fashion event.
