Earlier this year Johnny Was committed to a new leather handbag category, Positano, made in Italy and has decided to see it through working with and supporting their Italian factories. The collection launched last week on the Johnny Was website. Separately the company has temporarily closed their 54 retail stores and will continue to pay employees, online shopping is available with extreme precautions taken and complementary ground shipping.

The Positano Collection features structured totes and crossbody bags expertly crafted in the heart of Tuscany using traditional artisan techniques and elevated by exquisite bohemian details. Inspired by the Mediterranean coastline, the collection is reminiscent of the age-old Italian village of Positano — taking inspiration from the dazzling colors found in the tranquil ocean waters and the tiny villages dotting the Amalfi Coast. The Kauai print Zoey handbags evoke warm-weather voyages along the Italian coastline and the rich palette found in Mediterranean architecture.

Johnny Was already counts jewelry, belts, and scarves among their accessories categories. These leather bags will help them begin to solidify their space in the competitive handbag market. With price points between 198 dollars and 425 dollars, they are an excellent entry level piece.
