French swimwear brand Vilebrequin is to release a summer 2017 capsule collection co-designed by Karl Lagerfeld.

The limited-edition collection of eight items consists of men’s and women’s swimwear, beachwear and beach accessories, including swimming shorts, a polo, a tunic dress, a bikini, a beach towel and a clutch bag.

Inspired by iconic Rivieras and coastlines, the collection centres around a vibrant blue hue, offset by pops of crisp white and black. The men's offering includes a polo shirt and two styles of swim shorts, one fitted with a flat-belt waist, and the other inspired by classic '70s silhouettes. The women's offering features a bikini, a tunic and swim shorts. The collection is further complemented by a beach towel and a zip-top clutch.

The collection will be available from May with prices ranging from 50 to 180 pounds, and will be available from select Karl Lagerfeld stores and Karl.com, as well as Vilebrequin stores and vilebrequin.com.

The beachwear brand Vilebrequin was founded in Saint-Tropez in 1971 and now owned by US group G-III Apparel. Originally the brand targeted only men, but in 2013 it added women’s line.

This is the latest collaboration for Karl Lagerfeld, his namesake label, which includes ready-to-wear for men and women, childrenswear, bags and small leather goods, recently announced a partnership with Swarovski and a capsule collection with Steven Wilson.
