Reality television star and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian West's solutionwear line Skims has debuted online. While the Skims website went active before the official launch of the product, as of 9 a.m. Friday.

Kardashian West's collection includes full-length bodysuits, control top thongs, push up bras, sheer-sculpting slips, mesh bikini bottoms, and bralettes. Kardashian West was inspired to create this line as she struggled to find shapewear that fit her well. She even went as far as to cut up shapewear and alter it herself to fit her famously curvy body.

Earlier this year, Kardashian West took to social media to tell her fans about the launch of the brand and that it had been in the works for fifteen years. Originally the line was going to be called Kimono, but this sparked outrage over accusations of cultural appropriation and resulted in the new name Skims.

Instead of using traditional sample-size models to promote the line, she used plus-size models and women she knew personally including childhood friends, her sister Kourtney Kardashian, her mother Kris Jenner, and former inmate Alice Marie Johnson, whose sentence was commuted by Donald Trump after an appeal from Kardashian West.

Kardashian West chose an excellent time to launch shapewear. According to Grand VIew Research, the global shapewear market size was estimated at 2.26 billion dollars in 2018 and is projected to expand at a CAGR of 7.7 percent from 2019 to 2025.
