LA Fashion Week (LAFW) returned for a third season to Hollywood last week. The stellar four-day event included a preeminent line-up of emerging and established brands.
The third edition of the event, powered by N4XT Experience, took place at the W Hollywood Hotel from November 13 to 15. It features six runway shows alongside several presentations, exhibitions, and performances designed to appeal to audiences of all ages.
The first day of the event included the West Coast debut of The Blue Jacket Show and a show by R!O. The Blue Jacket Fashion Show, founded by designer Frederick Anderson as a way to create a platform dedicated to addressing men's health, with a focus on cancer education, included several celebrity appearances.
The second day of the event opened with a show by BruceGlen, a brand established by twin brothers Bruce and Glen Proctor. A return to the glamour of Hollywood, the show was named ‘Runaway Out of the Blue' and included singer Jekalyn Carr and her gospel choir. Models paraded down the W Hotel’s staircase wearing long evening dresses, flowing shift dresses, and ensembles with fluorescent colors and graphic prints.
The event was followed by a show by New York-based genderless apparel brand Private Policy, founded by Haoran Li and Siying Qu. Presenting their SS24 collection, the duo was inspired by Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s words, “Women belong in all places where decisions are being made,” and hosted a show that aimed to uplift powerful women.
The Ed Hardy show, which closed the second day, was one of the highlights of LAFW. Taking place on the hotel rooftop, the show included a strong collection of faux leather pants, mini-skirts, embroidered tops, and evening dresses that reflected Ed Hardy's core rock and roll and tattoo identity.
The last day included shows from Sergio Hudson and Theophilio, with the latter closing the week. Founded by Jamaican designer Edvin Thompson, Theophilio presented its SS205 collection, named Shaunie, a nod to the designer's childhood nickname, which brought together elements of his upbringing in Brooklyn and hints of LA lifestyle.
The event also featured compelling exhibits from Head of State, Otis College of Art and Design, and Julien's Auctions. Julien's Auctions presented collections from Hollywood icons such as Bob Mackie and Olivia Newton-John. Additionally, the Creator's Lounge and Marketplace offered an exclusive, shoppable space for creators and trendsetters to connect, explore, and discover the latest in fashion and lifestyle.
