For this season’s resort collection Lela Rose wanted us to fall crazy in love, in a very literal sense. Rather than the traditional runway shows or presentation with cocktails that is standard for showcasing most runway collections, Rose got a marching band to lead her models through the streets of Tribeca for the #LRTribecaTakeover playing hits like Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love.”

If her goal was to turn heads, she succeeded. As her merry brand of musicians, models, fashionistas, and editors took over the streets of TriBeCa, the rainbow assortment of colors drew the attention of onlookers, some of whom would otherwise have nothing to do with fashion, with a few even joining the mini-parade.

The message her was that everyone should hop on the fashion bandwagon and join. In the most interesting of times, let fashion be a celebration. The color palette included everything from magenta to evergreen. In the spirit of celebration, silhouettes were soft and billowy, and special attention was given to necklines.

Also, cigarette pants are back and proud, as evidenced by a lavender crêpe hem dress paired with magenta cigarette trousers. At Lela Rose, summer dressing is effortless. There’s a colorful approach to everything, but its still approachable. Through the right outfit, you can march to the beat of your own drum, and that’s what Rose was here to teach people to do.
