It’s been 50 years since legendary rockstar Jimi Hendrix presented his album “Electric Ladyland” to the world. To celebrate the anniversary, fashion label Libertine has announced a luxury capsule collection with items inspired by the musician, such as tie-dye head scarves, leather-fringed vests and velvet jackets. Set to launch in the Spring of 2019, the collection includes pieces for both men and women and was developed by Libertine’s Creative Director, Johnson Hartig, in partnership with Authentic Hendrix, the family-run company which manages Hendrix’s music and image.

“Jimi Hendrix defied expectations and pushed musical and performance boundaries as well as fashion boundaries to unbelievable heights”, said Hartig in a statement. “Hendrix’s fashion sense was as bold, innovative and inspiring as his music”. Janie Hendrix, the rockstar’s step-sister and CEO of Authentic Hendrix, added: “Jimi’s style was part of his persona. Although it was deliberate and not accidental, he didn’t even try to be spectacular. He was just was”.

Originally released on October 16, 1968, “Electric Ladyland” includes some of Hendrix’s biggest hits, such as “Voodoo Child”, “Crosstown Traffic” and “All Along the Watchtower”. It is his only album to have hit the first place on the Billboard charts.
