New York - Mansur Gavriel, the brand known for their trendy bucket bags, unveiled their first shoe collection last Monday at NYFW. While buyers and editors were very pleased with their collection, someone took serious issue with their collection. Their fellow New York-based designer Maryam Nassir Zadeh told WWD that Mansur Gavriel's designs are "way too close [to her own designs] to be an accident."

Nassir Zadeh, the owner of her own eponymous retail establishment which spawned its own line of ready-to-wear and shoes in 2012, is alleging that Mansur Gavriel's shoe designs, including the block heel, open-toe mule, and slide shapes, all replicate her own designs. She also stated that many of the colors used in Mansur Gavriel's shoe designs resemble her own.

Within 24 hours of the collection being released, Nassir Zadeh said that dozens of people reached out to her either personally or via social media to inform her of how much overlap there was between Mansur Gavriel's designs and her own. She has pointed out how 8 colorways presented by Mansur Gavriel last Monday are longtime staples of her own collection. Nassir Zadeh admits that navy and black are nothing out of the ordinary for a shoe color, but the shades of lemon, cobalt, and watermelon used in their collection is unique to her.

Nassir Zadeh has stated she is looking into legal recourse against Mansur Gavriel, but has declined to make any further comment on this issue. Mansur Gavriel was also not immediately available for comment.
