Marc Jacobs runway names Bergdorf Goodman retail partner

Bergdorf Goodman has been named the exclusive retail partner of Marc Jacobs’ runway show. Today, the designer will present his fall/winter collection at 7 pm at the New York Public Library. It will simultaneously be projected on the facade of Bergdorf Goodman at 57th Street and 5th Avenue.

This marks Marc Jacobs’ first runway show in two seasons, as he skipped presenting new collections due to COVID-19. Bergdorf Goodman will also be the exclusive retailer partner for the collection when it drops in the fall. The fall 2021 runway will run on a loop outside of the Bergdorf Goodman store from 7 to 11 pm today.

Marc Jacobs has been focused on growth after years of stagnant sales, but his saving grace has been his fragrance line. Marc Jacobs Perfect was Coty Inc.’s biggest fragrance launch in 15 years, meaning great things for the brand’s bottom line.

The runway collection will be carried only at Bergdorf Goodman and not at any of Marc Jacobs stores, as those are expected to carry his contemporary The Marc Jacobs line and his streetwear line Heaven. Under the leadership of CEO Eric Marechalle, Marc Jacobs returned to profitability last year for the first time in five years, despite retail taking a hit from COVID-19 lockdowns.
