Misha Nonoo is a rising star in the fashion industry, and traditionally has one of the most attended shows on the NYFW calendar. It's no secret that the she's become a fan favorite of the industry. She's been profiled by Harper's Bazaar, has sold out pieces at Bloomingdale's, and has over 34,000 followers on Instagram.

Those who were looking forward to attending Misha Nonoo's fashion show at NYFW next month will be sorely disappointed. The designer has decided to forego her traditional runway show and have a digital only runway show that has been described as an "Insta-Show." For a designer who claimed a spot in the 2013 Vogue/CFDA competition it seems like a very strange move.

While few details have been revealed about the so-called "Insta-Show", the fact that Nonoo has foregone what has been one of the most essential and glamorous aspects of the fashion industry sends a not so great message. While staging runway shows might be very expensive, having one of the industry's top and most watched brands switch to a digital only format for their runway shows speaks unpleasant volumes to what could be to come for the future of the fashion industry.

Misha Nonoo going digital for NYFW

Will other designers follow suit and forego the illustrious glamour and hype that is NYFW in favor of reaching a massive digital audience? While she is just one designer, she's one of the biggest rising stars in American fashion, and there is no denying that she produces quality clothing. Earning the Vogue/CFDA Fund's stamp of approval is an honor some designers dream of their whole lives, and she's already got that feather in her cap.

From a business perspective, Nonoo likes to take risks, so this is her way of thinking outside of the box. With digital being the future of fashion and every industry, it's no surprise that she'd take do something different with her runway show and make an attempt to be innovative. What she comes up with might be interesting, but, hopefully it does not change other designers approach to Fashion Week going forward.

While a new approach to digital could do great things for how the industry does marketing, the tradition that is NYFW should be celebrated. It is one of the most internationally attended events in the world, and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, but, it's important that designers continue to support the event. In a month we shall see if Misha Nonoo's approach to something different ends up being something good.
