So, it looks like Misha Nonoo is starting the consumer trend before CFDA even confirms whether it will really be a thing or not.

The women's contemporary designer has announced that she will be skipping a fashion show this season to shift the format for unveiling her collections to a consumer based format. Last season, Nonoo skipped doing a traditional runway show or presentation in favor of doing an "Insta-show," where her collection was unveiled on Instagram.

In September, she will be doing a consumer show the likes of what Banana Republic is planning for the upcoming New York Fashion Week next month. The success of her Insta-show, along with e-commerce becoming 20 percent of her company's business pushed Nonoo towards this new model.

“We’ve seen such a dramatic shift in the way technology and the Internet have sped things up in the industry and also the way people consume. You have to take a proactive approach in how you look at sharing your collections with the customer now. It’s almost unfair to show them things these days that they have to wait six months to get,” Nonoo said to WWD.

Nonoo wants this new model so her customers will be able to shop the collection right away. She also wants to use social media to further her customer base. According to a spokeswoman for the brand, her Insta-show reached 15 million followers and generated an 80 percent increase in new visitors to the brand's website.

Nonoo isn't the only designer to have begun the shift to a consumer focused model. Rebecaa Minkoff will be presenting a consumer focused show during NYFW next month as well. If things go the consumer focused route under the CFDA's potential plan, this could be the way all NYFW shows run.
