Fashion |INTERVIEW

As the climate of retail has changed along with the business side of fashion, new innovative apps, and online stores have been taking over. According to a survey by the Harvard Business Review, in a survey of 46,000 shoppers, 76 percent who used multiple channels shopped more and had bigger baskets. Also, 23 percent of those shoppers were more loyal customers. Fashion tech startup Invertex, established in 2014 in Tel Aviv, is one of the omnichannel platforms that has been emerging through mass store closures in the fashion industry. Fashionunited chatted with the start-up's chief executive officer, David Bleitcher, to discuss the changing interface of shopping retail.

How would you describe Invertex in your own words?

A Fash tech company which provides omnichannel measure-to -fit solutions for top footwear brands and retailers.

In what ways is Invertex changing the fashion industry and how business is being done?

With the Invertex ScanMat in-store and the Invertex app at home, it [is] much easier to buy shoes online and in the POS, with the confidence that each product will fit perfectly. It increase[s] the low conversion rate online and reduce[s] to more than half the returns rate.

What makes Invertex stand out from other company thats offer omnichannel services?

The speed, simplicity and accuracy! We have the fastest and most accurate self scanning smart phone app available. I would add also the scalability of our ScanMat, that has an equivalent accuracy that an expensive hardware 3D scan using only a software and a mobile phone. It is perfect for global footwear brands and retailers.

What are some of the trends you see currently in online shopping?

Selling shoes online remains a large unsolved challenge. Even today, 92 percent of the buyers are still in the store, only 8 percent are online. The trend for us will be the integration of the two channels, the omnichannel.

We can see this trend in online companies that are developing their store chains or retailers that are using omnichannel solutions to improve their on line sales capabilities.

How has online shopping changed the retail world of fashion, in your own opinion?

The online shopping is changing the world of Retail everyday. The Point of Sale has to convert into a Point of Experience, and it has to be connected to the online.

The Scanmat [in Invertex] provides a new experience to the client and redirect at least 60 percent of the traffic in store to online visitors. Creating your feet ID in Store or at home, [can] assure your visit to the ecommerce and giving the confidence that you [can] buy the right size of shoes for you.

Do you see omnichannel services expanding in fashion as a way to solve the retail decline?

For sure! That is our mission. The retail needs to evolve with omnichannel services like ours. Moreover, it is our responsability to provide omnichannel solutions that needed to be easy to integrate with the firms and that can be accurate and scalable at an affordable price. That is what we do.
