Paige Elkington launches ribbon-themed handbags

Model Paige Elkington is trying her hand at fashion designing. The Los Angeles native is launching a new handbag line with an equestrian twist.
The handbags, made from vegan materials, resemble ribbons that are typically won during equestrian competitions. In colorways both blue and red, the small bags represent Elkington’s personal inspirations, as she rode horses previously. In creating the design, she wanted to make something that “represented [her] style,” according to WWD. “Everyone has been doing a fun clutch, a fun bag [recently] and that kind of took over — those bags really spoke to me, I’ve never carried a normal purse,” she told the publication. The bags are available through Elkington’s website retailed at 525 dollars a piece.
Known more for her modeling career, this will be a new direction for Elkington. In having a personal hand in designing these bags, she has moved towards fashion designer. Many others have also gone this route, including models Alexa Chung, Gigi Hadid, and Rumi Neely, eventually working with high-end designers on collaborations and even their own lines. In the future, only time will tell if Elkington will pursue the handbag line into something more and broaden her designer skills.
