New York - Pamela Anderson, a longtime vegan and lover of fashion, is teaming up with French designer Amelie Pichard for a vegan shoe collection. The collection is inspired by Anderson's love for Malibu and St. Tropez. She had long been toying with the idea of creating a vegan shoe line, then she found Pichard, who regularly posts photos from her beachy pin-up days, on Instagram.

Pichard, whose kitchy designs have gained a cult following, and whose shoes can be found at retailers like Dover Street Market and Le Bon Marche, has always viewed Anderson as one of her muses. One of her shoe designs was named 'Pamela,' long before she even met the actress. While Pichard's designs are not exclusively vegan, she was certainly up for the challenge of creating a Vegan line.

“I went to London, where they are very involved in vegan and sustainable fashion. It was about finding materials in plastic that are cool, not bad for feet or for the planet,” Pichard said to WWD. “The most important thing was about the lining, it was the most complicated thing to find — our lining is breathable and antibacterial.”

The result of the collaboration between her and Anderson has resulted in seven vegan shoe styles and one beach bag. Materials used in the collection include plastic, cotton, acrylics sourced in France and Italy. Some of the shoe styles include a plexiglass heeled sandal with a pointed footbed and nylon raffia fringe straps, pumps dressed in patch denim, and pumps in lipstick red.

Anderson told WWD that her main objective with this collection is to prove "vegans can be sexy — super fun, super stylish and conscious because young people want to make better choices when it comes to consuming, when it comes to fashion. We need more sustainable choices when it comes to handbags and shoes .”

The collaboration will first make its exclusive debut at Opening Ceremony in Los Angeles on December 10, and will also be carried at retailers including Colette and Ssense. Price points for the collection range from 490 dollars to 950 dollars. Pichard hopes to show the collection to buyers during Paris Fashion Week too.
