Phillip Lim relaunches menswear

Call it a comeback. Phillip Lim has relaunched his men’s collection after putting a pause on it during the global COVID-19 pandemic. Today, 3.1 Phillip Lim men’s has officially returned with a focus on essential pieces, and a new business model based on how streetwear and sneakers are dropped. The new collections will be called “kits” and four are expected to be introduced per year.
The collections will be sold almost exclusively online with just five wholesale partners. Lim told WWD that this new business model is a gamble, but he’s confident that it can work.
The marketing campaign for the new collection was shot around New York City by photographed Bruce Davidson. The new 12-piece kit was inspired by “summer in the city” with pieces including short-sleeved convertible collar shirts, single-pleated tapered drawstring pants, boxer shorts, a fishtail parka, a zip-front bowler, track pants, a packable anorak, and cruiser shorts.
