On opening day of New York Fashion Week: Men’s Fall/Winter 18, Project showcased four brands in one gallery presentation format in Manhattan’s Skylight Modern location. Each ten-look collection exhibited classic American sportswear with a contemporary edge.

Michael Bastian, winner of the CFDA Menswear Designer award in 2011, and former GANT collaborator, was inspired by the Pacific Northwest for his more accessible Michael Bastian Gray Label now entering its fourth season. He funneled his concept through into quirky totem pole graphics and intarsia camouflage patterns on knitwear, rugby sweaters, tie-print dinner jackets accessorized with glimpses of leopard print on belts, all held together in a time-honored traditional palette.

Inspired by family visits to the Colorado mountains merging with his everyday life in New York City, where nature meets the urban landscape is where you will find M Singer for Fall. He layered classic Henleys, waffle crewnecks, drawstring lounger pants and corduroy outerwear in a cozy luxe assortment of olive, raisin, and dove grey.

The story of a California road trip provided the artistic direction for Faherty’s range of Southwestern textiles and vintage indigo layers faded from long drives along the pacific Coast Highway to Big Sur under an autumn sun. Add some militariana, Buffalo check workshirts, utility parkas, and Cowichan knitwear for a surfer’s multi-layered nonchalance.

WRK looked to the aviator not only for his classic utilitarian polish but for his attitude of moving forward in collaboration with the technology of the day. Progression and purpose fuel the selection of weather-proof fabrics, glen plaids on durable nylons and performance knits. As well as the iconic bomber, there were town coats, trenches and blazers and cargo pants in rich moss, tans and greys.
