Last Wednesday night, celebrity stylist and fashion mogul Rachel Zoe was honored in Los Angeles by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), Neiman Marcus, and Refinery 29.

The spotlight series in L.A. highlighted Rachel Zoe this year with an intimate dinner with celebrity and fashion guests. The outdoor dinner was held at Terrine including attendees such as Greg Chait, Claire Vivier, Merritt Elliot, Emily Current, Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor.

Zoe was honored because she has achieved high status in the fashion industry through unorthodox ways. “This series puts a spotlight on successful women who entered the business with non-traditional backgrounds,” Steven Kolb, chief executive officer of the CFDA, told WWD. Starting out as a celebrity stylist, Zoe made her move to fashionista and designer and marketed her own business. “Her move to being a designer is inspiring because it shows that you don’t always have to take the traditional path,” Kolb said, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Last month, Zoe launched her newest endeavor: Box of Style. The Box of Style is a service that delivers a pre-approved selection of goods to its subscribers four times each year. The box is priced at 100 dollars each, or 350 dollars for the full year. The items in the box are valued over 300 dollars and all but one “hero” item are mysteries to the receiver. The goods could include well-known branded apparel, accessories, beauty products, home decor, or lifestyle items.

Zoe also is currently working on her third book about fashion.
