Alipay just announced its partnership with Rebecca Minkoff to take place in Soho on September 9. The partnership will allow for Chinese customers to use their mobile Alipay app in order to make purchases for the lifestyle brand.
The in-store payments enable for customers to have an easier, faster service by purchasing through their Alipay Wallet. The global lifestyle brand chose Alipay due to its convenience for their customers overseas. The app will allow for customers to make purchases at any Rebecca Minkoff store int he U.S. as well as off the brand's website. The partnership was launched just before Minkoff's show at New York Fashion Week, which took place September 9. Now, the collection is available at all Rebecca Minkoff stores in the U.S. including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Chicago.
Minkoff chose Alipay due to its current status in China. The app is one of the leading online payment providers for online and mobile payments for Chinese customers. “Chinese consumers have become accustomed to our digital lifestyle app and they love to shop for their favorite brands they can’t find at home, and Rebecca Minkoff is one of those brands,” said Souheil Badran, president of Alipay North America. “By accepting Alipay, Rebecca Minkoff is able to target the right shopper through our Discover platform to ensure that the Chinese consumers can enjoy the best experience in-store or online without any language or payments barriers.”
The online platform currently has more than 520 million active users. With Rebecca Minkoff's new partnership, the platform is only expected to grow further with North American brands. “Chinese travelers represent an important and growing audience for Rebecca Minkoff,” said Uri Minkoff, CEO and co-founder. “By offering Alipay, we are ensuring that Chinese shoppers visiting any of our U.S. stores or our website are met with an exceptional experience which includes the easiest and most familiar payment method for them.
