This past New York Fashion Week, Reebok made a comeback with a runway appearance. In collaboration with designer Jonathan Simkhai, the footwear brand has showed for the high-fashion event.

The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner has taken a new spin on the Reebok's original Freestyle Hi sneaker. Reimagined in eight color ways, the new shoe styles were revealed at Simkhai's Spring/Summer 2018 runway show. "This partnership is a natural match for Reebok and Jonathan Simkhai – two design-driven brands who share similar values and produce wearable designs for the modern woman,” Caroline Machen, senior director of brand communications at Reebok told BoF. “The Freestyle Hi was the first fitness shoe created for women, so we are delighted that this classic silhouette is being reimagined with Simkhai’s signature fabrics and colours.”

The colors maintained a soft palette including light hues of pink, blue, and off-white. Paired with Simkhai's elevated ethereal looks, the shoes completed the sophisticated collection well. Collaborating with the designer has allowed for the streetwear shoe brand to move into the ranks of New York Fashion Week. Moving forward, it'll be interesting to see how this collaboration will affect the footwear brand in the long run.
