Rue21 collaborates with Together We Rise for new initiative

Trendy retailer Rue21 recently partnered with a nonprofit in order to make a difference in the youth community. Known for its teen-friendly clothing, Rue21 has decided to participate in the collaboration to make a positive impact in young teens’ lives.

“At Rue21 we are dedicated to giving back to the communities and customers who have made us successful,” Bob Fisch, president and chief executive officer of the brand, told Retailing Today. The collaboration includes working with Together We Rise, a nonprofit that helps youths who are in the foster care system. Together We Rise’s partnership with the teen brand includes shopping spree events for foster teens in both California and Colorado. Youths in foster care will be able to come into Rue21 locations and shop for new clothing that is donated by the company.

Rue21’s partnership with Together We Rise only acts as one of the company’s charity events this year. The new partnership comes from Rue21’s philanthropy program entitled rueGIVESback. The initiative also includes the company’s participation in other philanthropic events. Rue21 participated in “Toys for Tots,” a company toy drive Rue21 held in Pittsburgh. Also, during the holidays, Rue21 had a coat drive called “Coats for a Cause,” where over 500 coats were donated to the homeless.
